To blog post or not to blog post.
Like many things in SEO… The answer is…
Yes and No!
Let’s use a DataOps provider as an example.
Yes ✅: If a topic is a subset of an integral idea to your company, a blog page would be a good fit.
For example 💡 : DataOps vs. DevOps would be a great blog post.
It is not a main idea of DataOps, but it would make a lot of sense for your company to answer this question and differentiate the two terms.
No ❌ : If a topic is integral to your company, a better fit might be a Solution, Product Category, or Learn page.
Think about where in the funnel you’d like to target this content.
Does my ideal customer need to have a better understanding of a general question? If so, a top of the funnel learn or information page might be the best fit.
Does my ideal customer understand the topic well enough and is deciding between providers? If so, a bottom of the funnel solution page would be right.
For example 💡 : What Is DataOps? would be a great Learn type page.
From a hierarchy perspective, search engines would like to see most important topics be pages and sub topics be blog posts.
Why? 😲
Blog posts lose SEO equity over time and B2B companies are rarely diligent enough to update them every year. Pages tend to retain SEO equity for a longer period of time. 🤠
